SPEEDWAY, IN: On a wet, sunny, warm, cool and windy Saturday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the starting fields for the three preliminary events leading up to Saturday’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis were determined during qualification that featured ALL of the best, most interesting weather that Central Indiana has to offer in the Springtime!

Henrik Furuseth of Oslo, Norway captured the Pole for the first of the two USF2000 races with a lap of 95.460 MPH, but his JAY Motorsports entry failed post-qualifying tech inspection, handing the #1 starting position to Florian Latorre, of Libourne, France. Bryan Herta’s son, Colton, also failed tech, and will move back from third starting position to the rear of the field. Hoosier Tim Hollowell of Muncie, IN will join Latorre on the front row.

Qualifying for the Pro Mazda event, sponsored by Allied Building Products of Indianapolis, saw Orlando, Florida’s Spencer Pigot win the pole, as he goes for his fifth consecutive victory in the series. 2013 USF2000 series champ Scott Hargrove of Vancouver, BC will share the front row with Pigot.

In Indy Lights, the starting field will be headed by Mathew Brabham of Boco Raton, Florida. The grandson of legendary former World Champion Sir Jack Brabham captured his first series Pole Position with a lap of 111.958 MPH to nose out Indy Lights veteran Gabby Chaves, who will line up second.

Race #1 in each of the three support classes will be contested Friday, with Race #2 for all being flagged off Saturday prior to IndyCar’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis.
