Elkhart Lake, WI – Ryan Dalziel captured the pole for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America.
For the second event in a row the Extreme Speed Motorsports team of Ryan Dalziel and Scott Sharp will start on the pole as Dalziel backed up his pole run at Indianapolis with a pole run today at Road America. Topping the Prototypes with a lap of 1:55.166, Dalziel topped Richard Westbrook’s lap by.321 seconds at the end of the qualifying session.
Bruno Junqueira led the Prototype Challenge class in qualifying with a lap of 1:59.917 seconds, outpacing Luis Diaz (2:00:279 seconds) and Jack Hawksworh (2:00:544 seconds). Then, late in the session, IndyCar star Hawsworth went back out and timed in at 1:59.493 seconds. With time running out in the session, Junqueira went back out and scored the class pole with a lap of 1:59.411 seconds, .082 seconds quicker than Hawksworth.
Quickest in the GT Le Mans class out of ten cars, John Edwards toured the track in 2:03.747 seconds in the BMW Z4 GTE. Jonathan Bomarito in his SRT Viper GTS-R was second quick at 2:03.813 seconds.
Two laps were all he needed as James Davison in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage laid down the quickest lap in the GT Daytona class with a lap of 2:09.079 seconds, a little over two tenths quicker than Dane Cameron in the BMW Z4. Sixteen drivers qualified during the session.
The action starts when the green flag flies at 2:15pm ET on Sunday, August 10 for round eleven of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America.
