Kenton Koch is continuing his winning ways this season in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda series.
After dominating the Mazda MX-5 Cup championship in 2014, Kenton moved up to Mazda Lites this year and has proceeded to dominate the series, just as he did in MX-5 cup last season.

After 8 races in the 2015 season, Kenton leads the championship by 30 points. That is pretty impressive, and even more so when you consider he has won 6 of those races and finished 2nd in the two races he did not win.
This weekend at Road America, there will be two opportunities for Kenton to notch up additional victories. A 30 minute race will be held on Saturday and a 45 minute race will be held on Sunday. Those will be rounds 9 and 10 in the 14 race series, so it is possible that he might just put the championship out of sight for any of his fellow drivers.
In the first practice session on Friday morning, Kenton once again posted the fastest time, putting in a time .039 faster than JDC Motorsports teammate Clark Toppe.
The Mazda ladder program has been a godsend for Kenton and his family, who was not blessed with an unlimited checkbook to further his racing career. Every ride that Kenton has enjoyed was earned by results and the blood and sweat of a supportive family.
Should he win the Lites championship this year, he will get an IMSA scholarship to advance to the Prototype Challenge class in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship next year.
Given his past results, his potential is unlimited. We are sure that in addition to Mazda, other manufacturers have taken note of Kenton’s results and are also keeping a close eye on him. Not unlike scouts sitting behind home plate at a minor league baseball game, those in the know in racing are sure to be watching one Kenton Koch.
This success couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. For once, it looks like nice guys definitely finish first.
