It was hot at Sebring today and the action on the track was just as hot as the weather.

When all was said and done, The Krohn Racing Ligier JS P2 Judd of Tracy Krohn, Olivier Pla and Nic Jonsson qualified on the pole, an outstanding achievement for the team and the all new Ligier. Qualifying driver Olivier Pla said: “We were really strong in all the sessions from yesterday. Qualifying went really well…It is always nice to start on pole, especially the pole at Sebring.”

Qualifying in the Prototype Class was very close, with the top 9 cars qualifying within 2.1 seconds of each other.

In the LMPC class, the Oreca FLM09 entry of Marc Drumwright, Tomy Drissi, David Cheng and Martin Plowman took top honors.

In GTLM, it was Porsche 1 and 2, with the #912 car of Bergmeister, Bamber, Makowiecki and Tandy taking the top spot. The top 9 cars in this class were separated by under 1.5 seconds.

Finally, in GTD the Rolex 24 class winning Dodge Viper SRT of Ben Keating, Jeron Bleekmolen and Sebastiaan Bleekemolen took top honors, besting the Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT America entry by just .053 seconds.

As evidenced by the qualifying results, the IMSA BOP (Balance of Performance) is spot on for all classes and the 12 Hours looks to be a hotly contested event.

No longer an endurance contest, the 12 Hours of Sebring, like all other long distance races, is a flat out sprint race. Expect close competition for the entire race in each class and a likely close and dramatic finish after 12 hours of racing. At this point it would be difficult to pick a winner, as there are a number of very strong entries in each class. All that can be said for sure is that there will be drama, close racing and surprises.

Such is Sebring.
