Local Residents Welcome NASCAR Haulers To Road America – RacingNation.com

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., June 12, 2014 – On Thursday, June 19, NASCAR Nationwide Series team haulers will gather at Times Printing Company in nearby Random Lake, Wis., prior to their convoy to Road America for the Gardner Denver 200 Fired Up by Johnsonville. Last year’s hauler parade drew hundreds of NASCAR fans and an impressive welcome was also extended between local residents. Times Printing and Road America expect even greater hauler participation and attendance this year and encourage all fans, residents and businesses along the route to participate in welcoming the return of the NASCAR Nationwide teams to Sheboygan County.

New to the hauler parade this year is former FDNY Rescue 4, which was invited to participate in the event weekend on behalf of Road America. This special rescue vehicle was restored and placed back in service following the attacks at the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001, where 343 FDNY firefighters, including six from FDNY Rescue 4, lost their lives trying to save others. Former FDNY Rescue 4 from Sept. 11th now serves as part of the Remembrance Rescue Project, a non-profit charitable initiative, created and operated by firefighters to restore, preserve and share two surviving Rescue trucks from Sept. 11th as an educational tools, historical artifacts and memorials. The Remembrance Rescue Project is a volunteer educational effort focused at society, especially those who were too young to actually understand the events of September 11th, 2001 and what that day means to members of the fire service and the country. Firefighters from across the country donate their time to accompany the Rescues throughout the United States in order to fulfill the mission to educate, honor and remember.

The haulers will gather for the party at Times Printing Company in Random Lake between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Fans are invited to attend, free of charge. The Random Lake Fire Department will hold a brat fry fundraiser featuring Johnsonville brats on-site in conjunction with the party and the event will be held rain or shine. The convoy to the track will depart around 5:30 p.m. following Hwy 57 north. After turning west on County Road J, the convoy will proceed north on Hwy 67 to Road America.

The race weekend begins with Pirelli World Challenge action on Friday, June 20, followed by more incredible door-to-door Pirelli World Challenge excitement on Saturday morning, June 21. The green flag drops at 2:06 p.m., Saturday afternoon for the Gardner Denver 200 Fired Up by Johnsonville NASCAR Nationwide race, which will also be broadcast live on ABC. Additional SCCA Pro Trans-Am Series racing rounds out the action-packed weekend on Saturday evening. Tickets are available and additional event details; ticket pricing and camping information can be found at www.roadamerica.com or by calling 800-365-7223. Kids 12 and under are free with an adult. Racing runs rain or shine.
