Trans Am Series Heads To Lime Rock – RacingNation.com

ROBINSON RACING’S CHEVY CAMAROS TO BATTLE AT LIME ROCK PARK THIS WEEKEND IN THE TRANS AM SERIES

Lime Rock Park is hosting the fourth round of the 2015 Trans Am Championship on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Robinson Racing will compete in the 3-Dimensional Services Muscle Car Challenge featuring Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs. Trans Am celebrates the holiday weekend with its 27th appearance at Lime Rock Park, the Road Racing Center of the East, located in Lakeville, Connecticut.

The event kicks off with practice and qualifying sessions on Friday, May 22, 2015. On Saturday, May 23 at 11:45 am ET, spectators are treated to a Fan Walk along the front straight and pit lane, where they can get up close to the race cars while meeting the drivers and crew. Following the Fan Walk, the Muscle Car Challenge for the TA2 Class begins at 1:00 pm ET while the TA and TA3 Classes race at 3:15 pm ET. The TA2 race consists of 67 laps on the historic 1.5-mile road course, a total of 100.5 miles.

Gar Robinson, driver of the No. 74 Camaro for Robinson Racing, has two podium finishes so far in the 2015 season: P2 at Sebring International Raceway on March 1 and P3 at Road Atlanta on May 9. In his first Trans Am race last September at Lime Rock Park, Gar qualified ninth and finished fourth. Shane Lewis, driver of the No. 72 Camaro, placed 7th at Sebring, 11th at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and 5th at Atlanta. Both Robinson Racing Camaros are sponsored by 74 Ranch Resort.

In the 2015 TA2 Rookie of the Year Standings, Gar Robinson is in first place, 8 points ahead of the second place driver, while Shane Lewis is in third place, just 3 points behind second. Robinson is second in the 2015 TA2 Points Standings with 68 points, which is 35 points behind the leader and 7 points ahead of the third place driver. Lewis is in fifth with 57 points, 3 points behind fourth place and 9 points ahead of sixth.
