RacingNation.com Power Rankings
Carl Edwards Not happy with second place, Carl is shooting for a Championship in both Busch and Cup. A good short track finish this weekend will solidify him as a top contender. Tony Stewart – 7 top ten finishes in a row. Tony is still looking strong. Jeff Gordon – He slipped again, this time into an accident. Where is this team going? We will see after Richmond. Denny Hamlin California was a disappointment but, look for a strong run at Richmond to put Denny back on the fast track to the Cup. Matt Kenseth Another top ten run but Matt needs to contend for a win to get back on track. Jimmie Johnson The California win for the California kid puts him at the top starting the Chase. The inconsistency needs to go away to keep him there. Kurt Busch Left the bubble behind at California. He should run well at Richmond and, with his wins, will be solidly in the Chase. Kyle Busch Kyle looked racy at Cali and needed to be calmed down by team owner Rick Hendrick. Clint Bowyer Not a great run in California. Everyone is still waiting for a breakout win from this team. Martin Truex Jr. Once the Chase pushes everyone back together, Truex will have a good shot at moving up. Jeff Burton Solid run at California was the type of run this team needs, now to put a couple of them together. Kevin Harvick Currently on the Chase bubble. Harvick is stumbling. But, he wont fall. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Richmond is a track he has won at and could win again this weekend. Actually, he needs to. Ryan Newman Ryan is done with the Chase. All thats left are race wins and those are questionable. Bobby Labonte Just missed the top ten, but another good run for the #43. The short track race at Richmond will be good for Bobby.
