3/13/2008 Is it just me, or is Short Track season… too short? Well, it is here, and it starts out at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Here is how we see the Sprint Cup racers running this weekend.
The RacingNation.com Power Rankings tells you who we think will be burning up the track. Feel free to let us know your thoughts, send us an email.
RacingNation.com Power Rankings Kyle Busch – He’s on fire and won here last year. Without any doubt, Kyle is number one. Carl Edwards – Without the tranny/motor issue, Carl might have stayed on top. A DNF and 100 point penalty from Vegas may fire him up even more. Greg Biffle – By the way, has anyone noticed that Biffle is second in points? Matt Kenseth – It seems like the Toyota and Ford parade right now and Kenseth is right in the middle of it. He may be leading it in the final laps at Bristol. Tony Stewart – Where there is Smoke there is always the chance of fire. Tire issues are the spark for Tony right now and when he’s hot, good finishes usually follow. Dale Earnhardt Jr. – This proves it to the Jr. haters – looks like Junior is getting all the good cars at HMS. Kevin Harvick – Harvick is quietly moved into third in the standings and Bristol is a good track for Childress Racing. Jeff Burton – Following right behind Harvick is Burton, currently fifth in points. Burton had 2nd and 12th place finishes last year at Bristol. Jeff Gordon – Still not in the top twelve yet, Gordon is charging up the standings. Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie is looking for that consistent streak to start, when it does look out. Denny Hamlin – Will the Denny of last year return or did someone slip him all of Yeley’s old cars? Brian Vickers – Vickers has raced his way into the top 35 and Bristol will be his last go-or-go-home qualifying session. Cause for celebration. Kasey Kahne – Kahne looks to be back this year. A good run at Bristol will make the Atlanta finish just a bad memory. Clint Bowyer – Two top tens at Bristol in 2007 point to Bowyer continuing wis climb up the standings with a strong finish this week. Kurt Busch – You can never leave Kurt out of the discussion at Bristol. While the season hasn’t gone very well since Daytona, look for him back at the front this weekend. Power Rankings from Last Week and Atlanta Result Carl Edwards – 42nd Kyle Busch – 1st Matt Kenseth – 8th Greg Biffle – 4th Jimmie Johnson – 13th Dale Earnhardt Jr. – 3rd Tony Stewart – 2nd Jeff Gordon – 5th Kasey Kahne – 28th Jeff Burton – 10th Denny Hamlin – 15th Kevin Harvick – 7th Elliott Sadler – 43rd David Ragan – 23rd Brian Vickers – 9th
